Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HistoAtlas, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

Description of Service

HistoAtlas is an exploratory research tool for visualizing and analyzing morphological patterns in solid tumors derived from whole-slide histology images. It provides interactive embedding visualizations, cluster characterizations, and statistical association analyses. HistoAtlas is designed for research exploration and hypothesis generation—it is not a clinical or diagnostic tool.

Data Sources & Attribution

The data presented in HistoAtlas is derived from publicly available datasets, primarily:

• The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) via the Genomic Data Commons (GDC)
• PanCancerAtlas integrated datasets
• Immune subtype classifications (Thorsson et al., Immunity, 2018)

No protected health information (PHI) is stored or served. TCGA sample identifiers are treated as research identifiers only and cannot be linked back to individual patients. All source data is subject to GDC data use policies.

Permitted Use

You may use HistoAtlas for:

• Educational purposes and learning about tumor morphology
• Academic and non-commercial research
• Hypothesis generation and exploratory data analysis
• Generating figures and exports for research publications (with appropriate citation)

You must not use HistoAtlas for:

• Clinical decision-making, patient diagnosis, or treatment planning
• Any purpose that would violate TCGA/GDC data use agreements
• Attempting to re-identify patients from research identifiers or derived data

Intellectual Property

Source data is made available under TCGA/GDC data use policies and the respective policies of contributing studies. Derived statistical analyses, visualizations, and precomputed results presented through HistoAtlas are provided as-is for research use. The HistoAtlas source code is available under the terms specified in our GitHub repository.

Disclaimers

HistoAtlas is not medical software and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations. The statistical associations and visualizations presented are exploratory in nature and should not be interpreted as established clinical findings.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the maintainers and contributors of HistoAtlas shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of HistoAtlas after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
